Folter Records Rating: 7/10  For those who still haven’t got enough of Vampyr metal comes Croatian band Castrum. In order to saciate you all blood-thirsty beings out there, Castrum brings forth 8 songs in which we find a good load of effective blacky riffs, melodies and desperate nightly screams that owe much to Cradle Of Filth and COF’s clones Hecate Enthroned. Although they openly copy COF, not only in the music but also in the looks and imaginaria, regalia and lyrics, they are nevertheless fairly good. This is a highly enjoyable CD as far as your purpose in listening to it is not an eccentric search of originality, but the bastard offspring of the filthy English combo. The first thing one notices is the Bible-long titles, such as “Weeping Inside Plagued Mirrors (Burial Of Ashen Bride”), “A Symphony In Moonlight And Nightmares”, “Obscurity Within Funeral Moon” are pure COF-ized titles, what speak by itself about how this band worships Dani and co. And before closing this review, some history on the band: Castrum is an extremely young band, founded in December 1996, that is, only two years old, yet they manage to sound coherently and cohesionelly, and thus reaching a deal with German label Folter Records.
